On February 6, Astralwerks releases 8-Bit Operators, a compilation of 15 representatives of the low-bit underground paying tribute to Kraftwerk. A response to, and an extension of, the band's pioneering electronic primitivism, 8-Bit Operators finds Kraftwerk's terse minimalism and the chiptune movement's playful warmth as unexpected kindred spirits. 15 low-bit pioneers from around the world provide startling and personalized renditions of Kraftwerk's originals, from 8-Bit Weapon's lush "Spacelab" to Bacalao's club-demolishing take on "The Robots."
